Pickleball Enthusiasts
We all love pickleball. And many of us play almost daily at Ephesus Park. It’s beautiful facility that did not exist in Chapel Hill just 15 months ago. So when about fifty of us celebrated the one year anniversary of this facility on April 22 of this year along with the Mayor of Chapel Hill and the Director of Parks and Recreation, it seemed only appropriate to thank the city in some way for creating this opportunity for us.
Several ideas were suggested as a gesture of appreciation to the city for financing and building the Ephesus Courts. It was ultimately decided at the Celebration that our Chapel Hill Pickleball group support a project suggested by Chapel Hill Mayor, Pam Hemminger.
Mayor Hemminger’s proposal was that we in the pickleball community volunteer some of our time this summer for “Food for the Summer,” a program that distributes food to children who, during the school year, would receive free or reduced lunches. “It’s more than food”, Ms. Hemminger noted, “it’s also a time for socializing and an opportunity to participate in some fun activities with the children. ”
Many of you have already volunteered for this project and your efforts are much appreciated. But the need for many volunteers still exists for the remainder of the summer. Signups are by the day and require about an hour and a half commitment per day. You can sign up for just one day or many. Volunteers are needed daily, M-F, in June, July and August; so there are lots of opportunities to help.

Thanks for your help supporting this very worthwhile project and making a positive, tangible difference in our community.
See you on the courts.
